Overview

Navigation Drawer

Clicking this button will slide out a navigation drawer from the left and let you navigate to the other top level views of GoneMAD Music Player.  Note: swiping from the left to bring out the menu is disabled in now playing in order to prevent conflicts with the gestures.

Search

The search button will open the search view to find music in the app.  [Insert link to search help page]

Toolbar Menu

Menu that lists actions not available through gestures or media buttons.  Also contains the customize menu to configure how now playing looks.  See the customization section later on in this page for more detail.

Displayed Metadata

Metadata about the currently playing song.  What is displayed can be changed to one from a large list of presets or a completely customize display can be made using json.  Forum post on custom metadata displays.  More info.

Primary Media Buttons

The primary row of media buttons.  This row will always be displayed, but every button besides play/pause can be changed, hidden, or removed entirely.  See customization section for more detail.

Secondary Media Buttons

The extra row of media buttons that is enabled by default on most devices, but is hidden on smaller devices.  This row can contain up to 6 buttons chosen from a list of 20+ different actions.

Customize Menu

Accessible from the toolbar, this menu lets you customize the look and actions of now playing.

Buttons

Displayed Metadata

Customize the displayed metadata for each list or grid item.

Gestures

Enabled Menu Options

Lets you choose which actions are displayed in the top level toolbar menu.  Note: Any action that is represented by a media button on now playing is automatically hidden.  Example: if you remove the shuffle button it will show up in the menu, but if you put the shuffle button back it will not display in the menu regardless if it is checked off.

Layout

Change between the 2 now playing layouts.  Note: some of the customizations are only available for Layout 2

Background

  • Album Art - Use the album art as the background
  • Blurred Art - Blur the album art and use that as the background
  • Off - Use the theme colors as the background

Background Configure

Gives you a live preview of the slider effects
  • Brightness - How bright the background is
  • Blur Radius - How big of a blur effect to use.  The larger the value, the more surrounding pixels are used for the blur.
  • Blur Downsample - Will down sample the artwork before blurring.  Example: a 800x800 image can be downsampled to 200x200 before blurring.  This can help achieve a smoother transition between colors.

Album Art

  • Sharp - Album art will display with right angle edges (basically a square/rectange)
  • Rounded - Rounds off the corners
  • Circle - Displays the album art in a circle
  • Off - Does not display album art at all

Time Remaining

This setting will change the total time by the seek bar to show the time remaining in the current track

3.4.17 and 3.5 Beta 1 Released

I was not planning on putting out any more 3.4.x updates, however google refused to approve the 3.5 beta due to some policy updates that caused the existing 3.4.x version already released to no longer be compliant.  Therefore 3.4.15-3.4.17 are basically the work I've been doing on 3.5 for the last 16 months, but with all the new features disabled.  I would like to put them through more testing before enabling to the public, hence the beta. 3.4.17 (2024-10-25): Fixed crash on android 14+ trying to verify the unlocker 3.4.16 (2024-10-24): Fixed multi select in album details highlighting the wrong item 3.4.15 (2024-10-23): Update target api level to 34 Updated dependencies Manual scans are no longer ran in a foreground service due to google's new policies Last played time added to song info pop up Fixed issue where extra space was added in artists with numbers in name Increased full search limit from 100 to 10000 results Fixed issue with files missing tags showing up in the unkno...

GoneMAD Music Player 4.0 released and is now free!

GoneMAD Music Player 4.0 is now fully rolled out!  After 14 years since initial release as being a paid app, I've decided to try something different and switch to being free with ads.  The market is completely different nowadays compared to the early 2010s.  Ads are everywhere and users typically do not want to pay for apps / games / etc.  But don't worry, those users who previously purchased the unlocker or in app purchase unlock will continue to get an ad free experience.  New users will also have the option to purchase an in app purchase to permanently remove ads.   Note: There is a bug with 4.0 where users with the standalone unlocker may see ads when they first upgrade.  You typically fix this by just force stopping the app and restarting.  Ads should not come back after that.  Alternatively you can contact gonemadsoftware@gmail.com and I can help you out as well.  I have no intention on making users who already paid see ads.
