When your music is incorrectly tagged or organized in a way that GMMP does not like, there is a possibility that a single album will appear as multiple in the album list.
Steps to make sure an album doesn't get split.
- Make sure the albumartist and album tags are all identical for every song in the album
- If your music does not have an albumartist tag make sure all the artist tags are identical
- Albums with some files containing and albumartist tag and some files without the albumartist tag will not be grouped together
- Use the "song info" option to view the actual tags of a file. The tag editor will automatically populate the albumartist field with the artist if it is blank, so it is not a good way to tell if the albumartist tag is correct.
- Keep the files of the album in a single folder
- This makes things much easier for the scanner
- If the album files are in different folders or you adding extra files to an existing album:
- Make sure Advanced Scanner Settings - MultiFolder Albums is turned on
- Make sure not only the albumartist and album tags are identical, also make sure the year tag is identical. All 3 are used by the scanner to group albums in multiple folders.
mp3tag is recommending for viewing and correctly tags: https://www.mp3tag.de/en/ What mp3tag can read, gmmp can also typically read.
